MAUMEE BAY LODGE & CONFERENCE CENTER
Oregon, Ohio

Recently, I gave my son some 13th birthday party options. Out of all the options (which included an indoor waterpark), he chose Maumee Bay Lodge. The reason? After an incredible stay at Salt Fork Park Lodge & Conference Center, he understood just how much he and his friends could do at a state park.

I ventured to Maumee Bay Lodge and Conference Center with four 13-year-old boys and they were never bored. Not one moment of our special trip.

The lodge is only 15 minutes from Toledo, Ohio but it doesn’t feel that way. In fact, you would never know you are so close to a city. It feels very far removed from anything urban.

Maumee Bay State Park Lodge and Conference Center is very modern and appealing. The huge windows throughout the lodge lets in not only the light but incredible views of Lake Erie. Truly, it feels like a luxury resort. Inside, guests enjoy the beauty of fireplaces and plenty of areas to enjoy time with friends and family.

Of course, the outdoor pool was a huge hit and they spent many hours there. I enjoyed swimming too but I also soaked in the beauty of Lake Erie from the pool. It’s a pretty and very relaxing area. Along with the outdoor pool, families can enjoy the indoor pool with hot tubs.

When not in the pool, the boys enjoyed time playing volleyball in the indoor court, the game room and much more. Outside, we enjoy the wetlands boardwalk on the property. Nearby, you’ll also find the Magee Marsh and Ottawa National Wildlife Refuge (this area is huge for bird watching!).

A full-service dining room and a pub are available for all your family’s dining needs.

We could have thrown a traditional birthday party but the memories they created were a gift that each of the boys (and I!) will always have. I would do it again in a heartbeat.
