Columbus, Ohio

Recently, my husband and I had the pleasure of sneaking off to Columbus for a couple of days. It’s not too often that we get a change to get away alone, so when we do, we want to make our time special.
Obviously, Columbus is full of restaurants but we had some particular ideas about what we wanted. We wanted delicious, healthy food but we also wanted something comfortable – where we could just relax and enjoy being together.

After talking a look at our options, we chose Northstar Café in Westerville. It’s their newest addition to the Northstar family and it’s the first restaurant they have built from the ground up. A few years back, we had the opportunity to eat at the Short North location and we remembered what a great experience that was, so we decided to give the Westerville location a shot – and we’re happy we did.

Regardless of your dietary needs and desires, Northstar Café delivers. While not everything is 100% organic, they have made a real commitment to making their food from scratch and using organic when it’s the best choice. One of my favorites is their home-made ginger ale. It was absolutely delicious. I never had home-made ginger ale before and now that I have, I’m not sure if I can go back to buying it in the store!

While, this particular getaway was for my husband and me, I would not hesitate to take my children to Northstar Café. In fact, I plan to. I appreciate the quality of food that is served and want my children to eat healthy as well.

A number of items are vegetarian friendly and one of their most popular items is the Northstar Burger. It’s a delicious veggie burger that regulars cannot get enough of. Another popular dish is their wild rice – it’s a must try.

We ended up eating lunch one day and then coming back for breakfast the next! The portions were great and my Uptown Salad and bread were delicious. My husband enjoyed his fish sandwich and we shared a pastry. For breakfast, I was really pleased with my omelet and my husband was equally pleased with his eggs and sausage. We even made room for a piece of blueberry buckle. Needless to say, we were happy and stuffed – and I don’t think we ate again until dinner!

A friendly team is waiting to take your orders up-front and menus are available at the front door. Just make your selection before you head up to place your order and you’ll be fine. The staff are really helpful and if you have any questions, they will gladly answer them.
Once you are done ordering, you can take your pager and sit wherever you would like. On nice days, many opt to enjoy the beautiful patio. Wherever you choose to sit, you can relax and enjoy catching up with one another. It’s the kind of place that makes you want to just sit, talk and reconnect.

Delicious, healthy food and a friendly, laid-back atmosphere – my kind of restaurant.
