Omni Severin ~ Indianapolis

The Omni Severin is a historic luxury hotel situated in the heart of downtown Indy. My boys and I recently visited and discovered while it is historic and it is certainly luxurious, it remains warm and family-friendly.

We found that the hotel staff was very friendly to both business professionals and family. The concierge, MaDonna, went well out of her way to be helpful!

Our room was a city view and included a patio. (When traveling with family, I highly recommend having a little extra room. It just makes life a little more enjoyable when staying in a hotel.) We found it was very helpful to have the extra space of the patio. The boys and I enjoyed watching the sunset and the city lights turn on at dusk.

The room itself was luxurious, with comfortable bedding and cozy bathrobes to climb into. It was perfect for retreating to after a busy day sightseeing! Of course, the boys wanted to head to the inviting hotel pool.

You don’t have to go far for your caffeine, Starbucks is located inside the hotel lobby. Additional dining choices inside the hotel include the Severin Bar and the 1913 Restaurant.

Connected to the hotel via an indoor walkway, the Circle Centre mall offers numerous shops, restaurants and movie theatre. And, downtown Indy is full of restaurants and shops to explore. My boys loved climbing the Soldiers and Sailors Monument that commands attention in the center of downtown.

We felt that the Omni Severin was perfect for our Indianapolis visit and are looking forward to returning!

Our Indy Places to Eat:

Scotty’s Brewhouse
1 Virginia Ave #100, Indianapolis, IN 46204

While there are several locations to choose from, we decided to walk to Scotty’s Brewhouse on Virginia Avenue. This casual restaurant is perfect for satisfying both adults and children’s appetites! The boys loved the mac ‘n cheese and I loved that I could order a vegetarian burger! I was appreciative that I could order whatever burger I wanted (and there are several delicious options to choose from) in a vegetarian form! Not many restaurants allow this type of flexibility. Choose from a plethora of beers but you’ll want to make sure to try their own brew (Thr3e Wise Men). We chose to dine indoors but the restaurant offers fun patio dining as well.

Café Patachou
225 W Washington St, Indianapolis, IN 46204

It was hard to choose what to eat at this popular restaurant! After much consideration, we decided to go with the omelets. We were not disappointed – they were absolutely delicious. Known for its health-conscious options, you’ll appreciate just how fresh and delectable each dish is! The wait staff were helpful and friendly (and in our case – patient). The restaurant was opened by Martha Hoover who moved from NYC to Indy 28 years ago. After searching in vain for a health-conscious brunch spot, she decided to open her own. The endeavor has proven so successful that Martha has since opened 11 restaurants under Patachou Inc. This includes Indy’s first non-profit restaurant, Public Greens, who donates 650 meals/ week to underserved youth in the city.

Bazbeaux Pizza
29 Massachusetts Ave, Indianapolis, IN 46204

After a day exploring Indy, we were thrilled to learn that Bazbeaux Pizza delivers! We decided to try out this Indy pizza favorite. Bazbeau’s is popular for its fresh-made pizza. When the Broad Ripple location opened, it won “Best Pizza in Indianapolis”. We were so pleased with the pizza, that we made sure to also try their sandwiches the next day (Carmel location) and were equally pleased with our choices!
