German Village, Columbus, OH
This summer, the historic streets of German Village in Columbus, Ohio, will come alive with the 64th Annual Haus und Garten Tour, a cherished tradition celebrating the neighborhood’s rich heritage and vibrant community spirit. This is an event my family and I look forward to every year!
Saturday, June 28th
The festivities begin with exclusive events on Saturday, June 28th. This pre-tour opportunity offers attendees a unique glimpse into homes not featured on the main tour. The evening includes a cocktail party at the German Village Society’s Meeting Haus, followed by private, themed dinners hosted in beautifully restored homes throughout the village. This year’s theme, “Life is a Cabaret,” promises an evening filled with elegance, entertainment, and culinary delights.
Sunday, June 29th
From 9:00 AM to 4:00 PM, visitors enjoy a self-guided tour of ten meticulously curated homes and gardens, showcasing the seamless blend of historic preservation and modern living that defines German Village. Attendees explore charming brick homes, lush gardens, and innovative renovations that reflect the unique character of this storied neighborhood. I admit to bringing home at least a few ideas every year to add to our own home and garden!
The Haus und Garten Tour is more than just an architectural showcase; it’s a celebration of community, history, and the enduring charm of German Village. Whether you’re an architecture enthusiast, a gardening aficionado, or simply looking to experience the warmth and hospitality of this vibrant neighborhood, the tour offers something for everyone. It’s a charming day full of fun and of course there are plenty of outstanding German Village restaurants to enjoy as well!
